Chrome won download edge browser

Chrome installed and works fine. I'm having the same issue, chrome kept crashing during videos so I uninstalled and now when I go to click on install chrome nothing happens, for edge and IE together and I'm sick and tired of using edge because it's super buggy and I have a hard time getting anything done, and IE is just too slow.

Please let me have my chrome back. Every time I force chrome into windows I have to completely reinstall windows I am having the same problem now.

The issue has still not been fixed after 6 months. In reply to JoysLaw's post on April 30, Same problem, but it has been two more months In reply to TrentBuchanan's post on June 23, Here it is June 28, bug still not fixed Chrome was working ok, Edge kept shutting down, crashing and whatnot, slow videos, downloads, lost contacts etc, however, I was dealing with it, not today!

My laptop froze had to do a restart, there are certain things I need to do that will run only with the Chrome browser, and well Chrome is gone! Went to programs to try to repair, but the msg said it was already uninstalled, not by me.

Tried to reinstall, can't in Edge or IE, this is ridiculous! I am not some computer whiz here who has the time to go searching around the internet for different browsers to make my stuff work, I'm sorry I took the free upgrade to Windows 10, I tried to go back to my previous OS but my system won't let me!

Does not work. If it's a "bug" then why wasn't I affected by the "bug"? I installed the same bits that you did. Attempt to install Chrome. Almost get owned with my very first action. Why is this still happening in , bing? Please explain. Fortunately Landau was observant enough to detect something fishy was happening, but the way these deceptive ads are hijacking Bing is clever enough to fool the average user. When I simply type the above URL into my Firefox browser I'm faced with a bold red page declaring "Deceptive Site Ahead" completely with details and an option to go back.

In his article he points out that the ad comes into rotation every few page refreshes. Because I can't obtain that result on a fresh Windows 10 install, I suspect it may be targeting users geographically I live in Europe.

I notified Bing Ads of this issue, and since Landau's tweet went viral overnight, I have confidence the malicious ad will be removed from Bing Search within the next 24 hours. I searched the web for similar complaints and found an article from Bleeping Computer dated April The same type of hijack using Bing Ads from Edge, displayed as the top result, leading to a fake Chrome download that serves up some particularly nasty adware in its installer.

The most noticeable difference was the domain name "NewChromeDownload. And then again 21 days ago from this user on Reddit.

You guessed it. Same procedure, same structure, different domain name. And then again about 4 months ago. If you have to use Windows 10, don't use Bing for search. There's a pattern here, and it's a disturbing one.

How many people have been affected by these short-lived but recurring hijacks that Microsoft is letting through to millions of people? The download page displays a "Try Now" button instead of a download button. The "Try Now" button does not download a trial version of Microsoft Edge to the system. Instead, it is a link that is redirected to the classic version of Microsoft Edge on the system.

A click on the Try Now link displays a prompt to open the link in the classic version of Microsoft Edge -- just named Microsoft Edge to add to the confusion -- or to cancel the request. Cancelling brings you back to the download page, opening the link in the classic Edge the download page with the "real" download link.

Fun fact : if you have installed the new Edge already, the link gets opened in the new Edge. It is unclear why the change was made by Microsoft. Considering that the company wants to push the new Microsoft Edge web browser on as many devices as possible, it is puzzling as to why the change was implemented as it may deter some users from completing the download.

Users who want to download the new Microsoft Edge browser can use a supported browser to download it, or head over to the Business download page to download it manually.

The business download page works fine regardless of browser that is being used to access the page. The next version of Windows 10, Windows 10 20H2 or October Update, includes the new Edge browser by default so that it is no longer necessary to download it manually.

Now You: Why do you think the change was implemented? Hello Martin, Not only that, but I guess, Microsoft also disabled the firefox users to download the update throw Microsoft Update Catalog, I was trying to download the Martin kb, but all I get the page info. I use waterfox with firefox latest useragent.

Try Edge! This is defamation and implies that Firefox is some kind of ancient and outdated software that needs to be replaced with safer. Mozilla needs a kick in the pants anyway to realise that its become the joke of the browser world now. I guess when Microsoft calls you out you kinda just know. Chrome based browsers are always a lot of talk and no substance anyway. Who wants to download Edge any way?

After every major windows 10 update, first thing i do is remove Edge completely. All system services delete and cancel all account number network system services like and comment and post and sharing information data all delete and cancel. It is a basic feature. MS are pushing fast Office as a web service. To be the best over Google, they optimise Edge for it. Vivaldi should never be considered as an alternative.

It is totally bug ridden with every chromium update and it is never stable but always in a state of perpetual beta. Now I just need to work on getting free of Google :- Got rid of Chrome, gmail and some other minor Google stuff like Translate but alternatives to Search unfortunately are not up to snuff.

Honestly, the Linux world for an average user is somewhat limited vs. Windows although the things most users do day to day are very accessible. Try DuckDuckGo for search. Yes, it uses Google results, among others but keeps you more or less isolated from them. Lots of privacy settings available in the Settings pages. Much better than a year or so ago. A mix of search results from everywhere with extreme customization possibilities; go too far, Qwant no longer works but not hard to find a good combination of search engines.

I like it, extremely fast, very bland looking but who cares?!
